Around the southern point of the Isle of Skye you will find Loch Scavaig and Loch Coruisk,  “said to be the wildest scene in the Highlands”  The waters are enclosed on almost all sides by slopes of mottled granite and passing back from these hills, there rises the black and foliated peaks of the Skye Cuillin.

This full-day cruise departs from the Mallaig Yacht Pontoons and heads northwest, up past the mouth of Loch Slappin and then onto the Strathaird peninsula with its sheer cliff face which gives the appearance of a medieval castle disappearing into the sea and takes visitors to this beautiful anchorage into Loch Scavaig and right to the very mouth of Loch Coruisk .  This landscape is not to be enjoyed only from the deck of a boat, but once at anchor, this cruise means visitors can take part in some hill-walking and exploration of the foothills, which provides many opportunities for memorable photographs of this tremendous landscape that inspired the Scottish historical novelist, poet, playwright, and historian sir Walter Scott to visit back in 1814 and describe it vividly.   “Rarely human eye has known A scene so stern as that dread lake, With its dark ledge of barren stone…”
