Fishing Eagle Experience
Get up close and personal to these majestic, awe inspiring avian behemoths
“Wow…what a unique experience! Seeing these amazing birds of prey at such close quarters is a day we will never forget. “
The location is among the most ruggedly beautiful on the planet. An ancient land, so frequently battered by the most extreme of weather conditions, so immersed in violent human history and so poetically melancholic as to trigger the most poignant moments of soul searching for the modern day mere mortal. The search for a jewel in such a crown can be found, for the lucky few, in the moody skies above. The White Tail Sea Eagle menaces the coastlines of the west of Scotland, threatening, vulture-like, those pitifully lower in the food chain, and triggering frantic scrambles for binoculars and the long lens. A precious 150 pairs of these flying barn doors reside in this nation, unintimidated by the damp climate and harsh Atlantic gales that we are so frequently rocked by.
Chartered boat trips are indisputably the best means of getting to experience these birds up close and in action. Expert trainers know the tricks to tempt them into a visit, catching the breath of all aboard as they soar and dive around the vessel. Elite Falconry are Scotland’s best when it comes to knowledge of the giants occupying the Scottish skies and the partnership is proving both exclusive and popular. And while sightings of wild eagles remain rare even in these parts, their pack of captive bred birds mean that all aboard can get up close and thrillingly personal. Feel your blood run cold for the briefest of gasps as they plunge from the heavens to land upon you. Resist the weight of them as they perch, curious, on your gloved arm. With one trained falconer on board and another operating from the land, the birds dart between their two masters, branching off to scour for nearby targets between their short trips. The chance to witness them hunting is a promise, even if they need some assistance from the falconer’s stash of pre-caught grub.
The White Tail Sea Eagles you will meet are Marra, Drogon and their daughter River, but clients can also expect to encounter Electra and Morganna, Bald Eagles from North America. And there is Ripley, probably the most accomplished fisherwoman on the team, representing the African continent as an African Fish Eagle. Even Asia and Australasia are covered with one of the White Bellied Sea Eagles (Elite Falconry created another world first when they began breeding this species in captivity). A family boasting the most honed raw instinct, the most unsettling beauty and the most memorable ability to perform, we hope you’ll join us for the chance to see them at work over water, in lands that provide the most evocative of backdrops.
