‘Harry Potter’ Steam Train Adventure
Combine a trip on the Jacobite steam train with a private boat charter and enjoy all the majestic scenery the west coast has to offer on both land and sea!
A trip of a life-time!
“Our family had a truly magical adventure that they will never forget…”
Voted Number One in The World by readers of Wanderlust magazine, the West Highland Railway Line is the ultimate in dreamy locomotive travel. When you combine the spectacular Highland scenic views with the pinch-yourself realisation that you’re literally on a Harry Potter-inspiring steam train, it’s one of the most memorable journeys you’ll ever experience. But don’t let the magic end there – board a private charter vessel and hit the Atlantic waves before getting whisked about back on dry land as part of a private tour by road. This is the full spectrum of the rugged-yet-luxurious West Highlands at its best.
Starting under the watchful eye of the highest mountain in Britain, Ben Nevis, the Jacobite Express visits Britain’s most westerly mainland railway station, Arisaig, passes close by the deepest freshwater loch in Britain, Loch Morar, and the shortest river in Britain, River Morar, before finally arriving at Mallaig which sits alongside the deep seawaters of Loch Nevis! From here join our private charter vessel Cyfish for a 4-hour trip exploring the surroundings and seascapes of the Knoydart Peninsula. A deep wilderness of rugged isolation and evocative possibilities, Knoydart is a lonely paradise for lovers of the outdoors, wildlife and romance. Under the guidance and care of highly experienced local experts, come prepared to make memories!
The Peninsula is sandwiched between Loch Nevis and Loch Hourn, forming the northern part of what is traditionally known as ‘The Rough Bounds’ due to its harsh terrain and inaccessibility. Astonishing views of Skye and other Inner Hebridean islands tease to the west, lands where travel over water has long been the best way. The Peninsula is one of Scotland’s forty national scenic areas, which are defined to identify areas of exceptional scenery. After a one-hour wildlife and history cruise the vessel will dock at Inverie so customers can visit the remotest pub in mainland Britain, The Old Forge. A fresh seafood lunch will be served onboard at anchor before we set a course back to the port of Mallaig.
A private chauffeur will be waiting to take you back on a return journey on the A830, known as the Road to the Isles which sweeps through yet more stunning Highland scenery. Keep your eyes peeled for the iconic arches of the Glenfinnan Viaduct and neighbouring Glenfinnan Monument, trigger point of the legendary 17th Century Jacobite conflicts. You’ll then return to your starting point, the hub town of Fort William. Just don’t be surprised if don’t want the magic to end!
